Marcus Oakley Interview – Cleptomanicx Guest Artist

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Marcus Oakley hat zu unser aktuellen Kollektion folgendes T-Shirt beigesteuert. Der Cäptn hat nun ein kleines Interview mit dem Künstler aus Brixton/London geführt.

Cleptomanicx Musgull Shirt

Good Morning, Marcus. We have some lousy livin weather over here. I think Hamburg & London have similar problems with hanging around outside.
Stay home and drink more tea maybe. Whats your favorite tea flavour ?! With sugar, milk or honey?

I like Yogi Tea with milk and honey.

Who are you and what´s your mission?

Yes indeed I do indeed drink lots of tea in the morning I prefer earl grey and then going on english breakfast tea and then roobis tea in the evening time so then. I’m Originally from the village Acle in Norfolk, a coastal county in England’s south-east I currently live in brixton in london. I drink tea draw and try and keep things sailing smoothly my mission is draw and enjoy just the physicality of connecting one line with another, thick lines, thin lines, abstract and pictorial they all have there own interesting mood and melody.

How do you get into contact with our hanseartic brand. Ever been to Hamburg ?!

I haven’t been to hamburg but I have heard the fish sandwiches are really tastey,

I´m sure you know our Kiez Hering aka Gomez aka Stefan Marx. Do you have Nick Names or pseudonymous to keep your character extra ordinary?!

What was your first contact with Art – do you ever done a real job or just jumping into this world of galleries and exhibitions?

Yes I do know mister Stefan Marx, he is a good lad, I once took him for breakfast, he had some baked beans, I think he ate too many baked beans as he doesn’t like them anymore.

I don’t have any pseudonymous but many years ago I used have long hair and a beard and the local drug dealers used to shout ‘jesus’ at me.

My first contact with art all started when I was a child.  The area I grew up in the countryside has had a positive influence on myself personally and my work

I spent my childhood playing in woods, climbing trees, making dens making various weapons and traps, picking clay out of the earth to make crappy pots which we would dry in the sun.

the only real job I has was when I finished collage and I worked for as t-shirt and textile designer for paul smith ltd.
but after three years of literally designing hundreds of t-shirts I was just ready to do my own thing and left to work as a illustrator and make art.

If you pick up one of your artpieces because your house is burning, what would it be ?

I would take a picture I did a few years ago of some naked hippies hanging outside a geodesic dome.

I heard about some musical experiences called The Sunflower Band. Tell us about the project and what´s your deal with the Beach Boys. Just like
their style of music or do you come from surf or skating waves or concrete?

In early 2003 I started The Sunflower Band I thought I would try and make music that was inpsired by my own work that could either make people smile, laugh or cry.

I really love the music of the beach boys, there music has had influence on me and my work, my favourite albums are from the 1970′s, there in 1977 album ‘love you’ is fantastic full of clunky and chunky synthesizer sounds and funny and warm lyrics.

Growing up in a little village you moved into a big foggy city, right? Do you want to go back or are you happy with so much trouble around you?
Whats your plans for the Future, are there projects like for fame or family or already been done?!

I really like living in London but I also love being outdoors, if I feel I need to see the countryside I just get on my bicycle and cycle out for not to long and I’m pedaling along twisty country lanes and saying hello to some friendly animals. Not to sure about my future? But I will always try and keep it ‘smooth and casual’.

Keep it overboardgeil and what about the Eels in Great Britain? Ever heard about my obsession with the snake of the 7 seas.
Do you like to draw some sketch about it?! Just for the fun of it!!

I do like eels. The best eel I had was the last time I was in tokyo I ate in eel restaurant, the chef cooked every part of the eel including the head and internal organs all of these parts had a different taste and texture & they where all delicious.

Thanks Marcus

Skulpturen von Marcelo Macedo

Monday, September 26th, 2011
