Our “year of the eel” expert team just anounced the movie: “The eel” (jap.: “unagi” / which got a golden palm at the film festival in Cannes in 1997) should not be missed by all eel fellows - an eel commendation!
The japanese star director Shohei Imamura (1926-2006) creates this drama, based on a novel by Akira Yoshimura. The eel as the only friend left for Takura Yamashita (Koji Yakusho), who caught this eel while sitting in jail for 8 years, because he murdered his wife and her lover in a jealous rage. Amazon said this film seems to be really boring – liar! Check this link! …We wonder if they eat unagi-sushi at the end of the film - Haha… The eel - your friend in times of need!
